{Coming Soon} Book Club

Hey all!

It is so wonderful to have a day off today. I actually got to finish one of my books I started over the summer!...imagine that!

That got me thinking-we are only 4 weeks into our school year, and I already started to lose time to myself for reading and relaxing. Does this happen to you too?? I find plenty of time for grading papers, creating TPT products, and cleaning {insert eyeroll} but no time for just coffee, a book, & quiet time.

This is why I created "The Book Club Beauties". This is a place were we can all vote on a book, read, relax, and sip wine. Also, I think it will be a great way to meet other teachers in the blogger-verse.

I will be sending out an email to anyone who asked to join on my instagram {@cardigansandcaffeine}. If you want to join, send me an email and I will add you to the list.

Our first job is to vote on a book. I will continue to grow the group in an open community to allow us all to chat at the end of our reads together.

Post below if you have a book you would like to suggest and introduce yourself. I will take all of the suggestions and put them in a hat for a blind pick to keep it fair!

Happy reading!

  2. Hello! I am Samantha but most of my friends call me Sam. My friend and I started a blog over the summer (droppinknowledge2.blogspot.com) but I haven't had much of a chance to blog much in the last few weeks. Totally normal, right? I live in Racine, Wisconsin, which is located on Lake Michigan, between Chicago and Milwaukee. I am in my second year of teaching in my own classroom. This year I am teaching 2nd grade. I am only 3 days in but my students have settled all anxiety about teaching in primary. I'm sorry 4th grade, I always thought you were my favorite but 2nd may have won my heart! I had a suggestion but when I looked up "Room" by Emma Donoghue, I completely changed my mind.... So, that's my vote as well! :)

  3. Hey! I am Amy and I am in my fourth year teaching, first year in kindergarten! I live in Louisville, KY with my fiance and our cat. I went to UK for college and am a Wildcat fan, which can be hard living in Louisville ;) I am so excited to start this book club and hopefully soon start my own blog, I have a teacher instagram (bluegrassbrainsandbubbles) but I haven't dove into the blogging world yet, YIKES! I was going to suggest the book "This is Where I Leave You" by Jonathan Tropper just because it will be a movie soon and looks like it could be a funny read. I love to read though so any book we read I will love!

    1. Hi Nicole! How do you love 1st grade? I taught it for 2 years & they brought me to a whole new level of tired! Ahhhhh, Tis' the season of pumpkin...that is the one thing I miss about living in the Chicago area (the fall weather). At least I can still sip my pumpkin latte and pretend it is cooler out ;).

In my free time I love to read, scrapbook, chase my three kids around, and be outdoors. I have read Room - it is fabulous! I have had my eye on "Chose the Wrong Guy, Gave Him the Wrong Finger" by Beth Harbison. It just sounds fun! :)

  6. Hi everyone! I'm Brittney and I teach third grade at a Charter school in Southwest Florida. We are a looping school so I switch between 2nd and 3rd grade every year with the same kids. I am in my fourth year of teaching and love it! I would love to read the book "Heart of the Matter " by Emily Giffen. I have read a few of her novels and loved them!
