Hey all!
It is so wonderful to have a day off today. I actually got to finish one of my books I started over the summer!...imagine that!
That got me thinking-we are only 4 weeks into our school year, and I already started to lose time to myself for reading and relaxing. Does this happen to you too?? I find plenty of time for grading papers, creating TPT products, and cleaning {insert eyeroll} but no time for just coffee, a book, & quiet time.
This is why I created "The Book Club Beauties". This is a place were we can all vote on a book, read, relax, and sip wine. Also, I think it will be a great way to meet other teachers in the blogger-verse.
I will be sending out an email to anyone who asked to join on my instagram {@cardigansandcaffeine}. If you want to join, send me an email and I will add you to the list.
Our first job is to vote on a book. I will continue to grow the group in an open community to allow us all to chat at the end of our reads together.
Post below if you have a book you would like to suggest and introduce yourself. I will take all of the suggestions and put them in a hat for a blind pick to keep it fair!
Happy reading!
I will start for introductions. I am Megan or Meg... welcome to my blog! I am so excited to start this with you all. I am currently living in Scottsdale, AZ and teaching 2nd grade. Before here, I taught 1st grade for two years. I am originally am from a suburb outside of Chicago. I am a HUGE Chicago fan, but I love desert life. My book suggestion is "Room" by Emma Donoghue.
ReplyDeleteHello! I am Samantha but most of my friends call me Sam. My friend and I started a blog over the summer (droppinknowledge2.blogspot.com) but I haven't had much of a chance to blog much in the last few weeks. Totally normal, right? I live in Racine, Wisconsin, which is located on Lake Michigan, between Chicago and Milwaukee. I am in my second year of teaching in my own classroom. This year I am teaching 2nd grade. I am only 3 days in but my students have settled all anxiety about teaching in primary. I'm sorry 4th grade, I always thought you were my favorite but 2nd may have won my heart! I had a suggestion but when I looked up "Room" by Emma Donoghue, I completely changed my mind.... So, that's my vote as well! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sam! Totally normal to not have time to blog! :) This part of the school year is crazy for me too! 2nd grade won my heart too now that 1st grade is behind me! I am glad you're having a great year! -Meg
DeleteWaving hello to you from North East WI!
DeleteHey! I am Amy and I am in my fourth year teaching, first year in kindergarten! I live in Louisville, KY with my fiance and our cat. I went to UK for college and am a Wildcat fan, which can be hard living in Louisville ;) I am so excited to start this book club and hopefully soon start my own blog, I have a teacher instagram (bluegrassbrainsandbubbles) but I haven't dove into the blogging world yet, YIKES! I was going to suggest the book "This is Where I Leave You" by Jonathan Tropper just because it will be a movie soon and looks like it could be a funny read. I love to read though so any book we read I will love!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy!
DeleteI haven't heard of that book yet. Is that the same as the movie trailer I have been seeing lately?? It looks like a great movie! Great suggestion. :) -Meg
Yes, I saw the trailer and thought it looked funny :) All the books suggested sound great so far!
DeleteHi there! I am Nicole and I teach 1st grade in the heart of Illinois! I am new to the blogging world, but love connecting with everyone! I love everything about FALL! I love ND football, cool temps and pumpkins, which is great because I live in the Pumpkin Capital of the World and our annual festival is next week!!! My blog is getting made over and I am excited. My blog and instagram are Beginnings with Baer! I am up for any books! I tend to always read Nicholas Sparks (which are awesome) but I am need to expand my horizons!!! This is going to be great as I need to find some "me unwind time"!
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole! How do you love 1st grade? I taught it for 2 years & they brought me to a whole new level of tired! Ahhhhh, Tis' the season of pumpkin...that is the one thing I miss about living in the Chicago area (the fall weather). At least I can still sip my pumpkin latte and pretend it is cooler out ;).
DeleteHi Megan! I LOVE 1st grade, I mean I am exhausted but I love it!! I am actually friends/work buddies with your fellow Saluki Sara L.!!
DeleteI love Sara! Go salukis!
DeleteHi, my name is Michele Green and I am from WI. I am in my 9th year of teaching. I am an elementary Instructional Resource Coach (think librarian and technology coach combined). In my free time I love to read, scrapbook, chase my three kids around, and be outdoors. I have read Room - it is fabulous! I have had my eye on "Chose the Wrong Guy, Gave Him the Wrong Finger" by Beth Harbison. It just sounds fun! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Michele! I will add your suggestion to the pot. :) I have never heard of that one! I love hearing about new books. :) Have a great weekend!
DeleteHi everyone! I'm Brittney and I teach third grade at a Charter school in Southwest Florida. We are a looping school so I switch between 2nd and 3rd grade every year with the same kids. I am in my fourth year of teaching and love it! I would love to read the book "Heart of the Matter " by Emily Giffen. I have read a few of her novels and loved them!
ReplyDeleteHi Emily! I teach at a charter too and actually looped up with my first graders to second! I love the fact I have the same kids. :) I'll add your suggestion to the bag today!
DeleteOoo... this is another book on my to-be-read pile! Great suggestion.
DeleteHey Brittney, I would love to work at a Charter School!!!! I have always wondered about looping!
ReplyDeleteI love working in a charter! It is much better than my public school experience in Arizona. And I looped too! I love it. :D
DeleteI finally bought the book this weekend and started it last night. What a great opening! Definitely looking forward to reading more!
